Spheroid Universe at Vancouver Biennale

Dear friends!

We are happy to announce our participation at Vancouver Biennale at Voxel Bridge ArtProject by Jessica Angel in collaboration with the Kusama Network.

Voxel Bridge. This public artwork is a 34,000 sq.ft immersive installation that will transform the area underneath Vancouver’s Cambie Street Bridge into a three-layered immersive experience. Working with the vastness of the concrete bridge as a first layer, Angel adds her site-specific installation as a second layer, and completes the experience with an augmented reality integration over the massive artwork as the third and final layer. The installation is slated for completion in Spring 2021.

At the Voxel bridge we will be visualizing digital worlds to create an immersive experience of one world being a part of another.

The main challenge with implementing location-based augmented reality is to get it precisely synchronized with the real world. The accuracy of GPS and compass in mobile devices is never sufficient to get the digital and real worlds precisely aligned. And that is crucial for immersive AR experience.

In the Voxel bridge project we will be testing and implementing many different approaches to make the virtual world as real as it could be, to get it perfectly aligned with the real world. And that is the important step for the Spheroid.Earth project.

Spheroid.Earth is a project of the Spheroid Universe platform created to crowdsource the gathering and processing of visual data to build a global Space owner-managed AR Cloud Map for positioning AR devices in any location on the planet.

Jessica Angel is a visual artist based in New York. She explores the possibility of visual illusion and space transformation with the use of perspective.

Kusama is a scalable network of specialized blockchains built using Substrate. The network is an experimental development environment for teams who want to move fast and innovate on Kusama.
